Register VNeID account for foreigners in Vietnam

  1. What is VNEID?

VNeID (short for Vietnam Electronic Identification) is an electronic identification application developed by the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, aiming to replace traditional documents with electronic forms. This application allows users to perform administrative procedures and electronic transactions conveniently and safely, while integrating many important personal information.

2. Benefits of VNEID

  • Foreigners can easily perform administrative procedures online, reducing time, paperwork and direct contact, while ensuring authenticity and protecting legitimate rights during their stay and work in Vietnam.
  • Creating conditions for foreigners to use many digital utilities in Vietnam such as: Verifying information in banking transactions, registering to rent a house, using public services, storing electronic residence cards and other legal documents on the VNeID application.

3. Conditions for being granted VNEID

(1) Have a temporary residence card or permanent residence card that is still valid in Vietnam.
(2) Have a passport that is still valid according to regulations.
(3) Use a SIM card with the owner’s name in Vietnam.

4. Steps to register for VNEID

Step 1: Go to the immigration department under the Ministry of Public Security to request.
